Approximately 10 years ago, a couple decided it was time to do more than just pass out Tootsie Rolls on Halloween Night….

There are basically two types of people in this world:  those who view Halloween as a 3-hour holiday that comes and goes in 1 night and those who view it as an entire season.  That’s right… the Halloween Season.  It’s something they prepare for all year long.  Some even consider it an obsession.  Approximately 10 years ago, a couple decided it was time to do more than just pass out Tootsie Rolls on Halloween Night.  They asked themselves a simple question, “Why not give people something more to do on Halloween?”  Thus, out of the smoke from the fog machine, Jerry and Jamie Browne formed Haunted Oaks Productions.

Jerry and Jamie grew up together in Webberville – a very small community just outside Lansing.  Jerry manufactures the anthrax vaccine at Emergent Biosolutions and Jamie works for Mid-Michigan Oral Surgery.  What do you get when you mix a little anthrax and with oral surgery?  You get a truly terrifying haunted house that keeps people coming back every year.

In 1999, the couple brought Haunted Oaks Productions into existence with a very small exhibit in their front yard and garage.  The revolution in fear had begun.  Throughout the years, many additions were made including the spinning Vortex.  From a tiny 2-car garage in 1999, their haunt has escalated into over 18,500 square feet of sheer entertainment.  Their dreams and ambitions turned their hobby into a full-fledged business in 2005.  To fine-tune their attraction, they attend conferences and haunts across the country including Charlotte NC, Dallas TX, Denver CO, Las Vegas, NV, and St. Louis, MO.  They even collaborated with a consultant from California to bring a touch of Hollywood to their show.  All this has assisted in creating the most exciting haunted house Lansing has ever seen.

In 2005, Phantasmagoria Haunted Attraction premiered at Logan Square in Lansing but moved to Fun Tyme Adventure Park in Okemos in 2007.  The attraction features 3 separate haunts for one great price.  The success Jerry and Jamie have experienced has surpassed their wildest imaginations.  As long as there are still people looking for a horrifying scare, they will be there to provide it…
