Lansing Haunted House | Okemos MI Haunted House
Quarantine was originally a government owned toxic waste facility, which was abruptly deserted in the early 1960’s. There is no clear story as to why it was abandoned, as most of the people who were employed there either died a horrible fate that day or have mysteriously disappeared over the years. Legend has it that on October 13, 1963, the plant opened as usual on a brisk autumn morning. By noon, there were 56 confirmed dead and another 72 declared missing. The numbers fluctuate as the story is retold, however the fact remains that many families never saw their loved ones return home that fateful day.
“Clean-up” crews were discharged to the site to collect and ID the dead. The dense air had a putrid, sour smell, which saturated their senses. Blood and human remains marred every corner of the building. It was a virtual combat zone, and the screams of torment still echoed in the corridors. They could tell they were not alone. These efforts were soon deserted as these people too began to disappear.
In 2005, the government finally granted limited access to the plant, presuming it must be safe after more than 40 years of inactivity. Haunted Oaks Productions prepared the site for group tours. Not believing the rumors themselves, they hoped to make the facility a tourist attraction – a place to tell ghost stories and create urban legends. Little did they know, they would soon be directly responsible for waking an evil that had been dormant for so many years. Before long, people began mysteriously disappearing. Missing posters were popping up around town like an epidemic. Bloodshed was once again rampant, and the toxic waste dump was ordered to be demolished. As they began tearing down the walls, they uncovered thousands of human remains within. The walls were a virtual tomb. How did the bodies get in the walls?
The partially demolished site now remains a tomb – a final resting place for both the dead and undead. The government has washed its hands of the site and turned it over to Haunted Oaks Productions to do with what they please. Don’t ask, don’t tell – they didn’t want to hear the words Quarantine ever again.
Every October, area residents are allowed to visit the site, which now resembles an old mineshaft. Decrepit and rotting bodies can be seen within its walls. The undead still haunt its corridors, and many who enter never see daylight again. Knowing all this, why would anyone want to enter this morgue of hell? What if it is just a rumor? What if it’s all just a tall tale spun to scare children into staying in their beds at night? Well, your curious mind will just need to see for itself – hopefully your fate isn’t sealed as so many who have gone before you…
